Arboretum at Copperleaf

Landmark
Littleton, CO

The developer needed a mix of hardscape finishes and custom water features that would reflect the upscale design and luxurious materials used in both the exterior and interior of the residence. The hardscapes surrounding the building had to be functional and durable, but above all, beautiful. And they needed to harmonize with the finishes on the adjacent retail property.

Splash Pads, Spraygrounds and Other Water Play Places

What's more fun than watching 200 gallons of water splashing into a fountain on a hot July day? Playing in it, of course! Throughout the country the idea of being able to interact with a water feature is becoming more popular. Designers of water features have risen to the challenge of turning boring old nozzles into creative places in which children (young and old) can be entertained as they jump in, step over or run through sprays of water.

Companies like Crystal and The Fountain People have designed fountain products that can "dance" in a sequence of sprays with hundreds of patterns and perform spectacular nighttime displays shooting water lit up with LED lights. Other companies have specialized in designing innovative products for the sprayground, with interactive water toys such as water cannons and spill towers from manufacturers such as Water Odyssey and Vortex.

In recent years Colorado Hardscapes has also expanded its water feature capabilities, becoming experts in the installation of splash pads and the decorative concrete decking that often accompanies a "dry-deck" fountain. After several installations of dry-deck fountains, CHI has gathered some key points which should be considered by anyone wishing to dedicate some space to an interactive feature.
